The Alpha Tower is situated in Suffolk Street, near Broad Street and not far from the Mailbox. The tower is one of the tallest buildings in Birmingham and has 28 floors and stands at 328 feet. It was constructed as part of the ATV Studios being constructed in 1965. Part of ATV development of 1969-73 on site of canal basin. A 28 storey Alpha Tower, hotel and offices by H. George Marsh of Richard Seifert & Partners. The Alpha Tower is an excellent example of Marsh's dramatic and angular style. The tower cranks in the middle and has a Pirelli-style tapered ends which house the staircases. The tower is a smaller version by architect Richard Seiffert.
